Simulation of Infectious Diseases Using Agent-Based Versus System Dynamics Models

چکیده
System dynamics and agent-based modeling are two approaches used in simulation experiments. In this paper, we implement a system dynamics model for infectious diseases (SIR model) using Causal Block Diagrams (CBD) and develop an agent-based model based on statecharts. Our agent-based modeling approach produces similar results to the system dynamics approach. We discuss in detail how this similarity between the two approaches is obtained.

Output Consensus Control of Nonlinear Non-minimum Phase Multi-agent Systems Using Output Redefinition Method
This paper concerns the problem of output consensus in nonlinear non-minimum phase systems. The main contribution of the paper is to guarantee achieving consensus in the presence of unstable zero dynamics. To achieve this goal, an output redefinition method is proposed. The new outputs of agents are functions of original outputs and internal states and defined such that the dynamics of agents a...
متن کاملAgent-Based Model: A Surging Tool to Simulate Infectious Diseases in the Immune System
Agent-based models (ABMs) are capable of constructing individual system components at different levels of representation to describe non-linear relationships between those components. Compared to a traditional mathematical modeling approach, agent-based models have an inherent spatial component with which they can easily describe local interactions and environmental heterogeneity. Furthermore, ...
متن کاملOptimal adaptive leader-follower consensus of linear multi-agent systems: Known and unknown dynamics
In this paper, the optimal adaptive leader-follower consensus of linear continuous time multi-agent systems is considered. The error dynamics of each player depends on its neighbors’ information. Detailed analysis of online optimal leader-follower consensus under known and unknown dynamics is presented. The introduced reinforcement learning-based algorithms learn online the approximate solution...
متن کاملAgent-based Modeling and System Dynamics Modeling on Transmission of Tuberculosis in Saskatchewan
The desire to better understand the transmission of infectious disease in the real world has motivated the representation of epidemic diffusion processes in the context of qualitative simulation as a computational model on provincial and community levels. In this thesis, we have developed both agent-based models and System Dynamics models within the context of M. Tuberculosis (TB) transmission ...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal agent based simulation of COVID-19 disease and investigating the effect of vaccination (case study: Urmia)
Proper management of epidemic diseases such as Covid-19 is very important because of its effects on the economy, culture and society of nations. By applying various control strategies such as closing schools, restricting night traffic and mass vaccination program, the spread of this disease has been somewhat controlled but not completely stopped. The main goal of this research is to provide a f...
